Anwesha Das is the Dean's Teaching Fellow at the CFDE for the academic year (2024-25). During her time with the CFDE, she envisions contributing towards pedagogical research and curating and developing resources to facilitate teaching experiences of international graduate students and faculty at Emory. 

Anwesha is a PhD candidate in Islamic civilizations studies. She grew up in India where she completed her undergraduate and post-graduate studies in history from Presidency College (Kolkata) and JNU (New Delhi). Her research focuses on the history of the medieval India Ocean as she studies the intersections of commerce, material culture and religion in the region. She has built her research expertise in using historical texts in multiple languages, and objects in museum collections through her training in Emory and extensive fieldwork in India, USA and the UK.  Her work has been supported by the Medieval Academy of America, Emory University's Study Jainism Abroad Fellowship and the Halle Institute for Global Research Fellowship.
