Morning Session: Foundations in Course Design
10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Whether you know it or not, you are a DESIGNER! Being able to use the systematic process of course design and development will streamline the time and effort it takes to put together a class and should lead to a more comprehensive and intentional experience for your students. Course design includes topics like how to write behavioral learning objectives, develop/find inclusive content, plan for active learning (flipped classrooms anyone?) and design authentic, standards-based assessments. How do you design learning experiences for long-term retention, class engagement and class discussions? Come and share what you know and learn what you don’t!
LUNCH – 12:00 – 1:00
Afternoon Session: Teaching with Technology
1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Technology is here, and it is staying here, often in students’ pockets, purses, book bags or all of the above. Might as well take advantage! This workshop will look at ways to leverage technology to support student communication, engagement, learning, and assessment. Topics include how to set up a cohesive Canvas site, how to use and integrate different tools within Canvas, how/when to use an instant response system, how/when to use Zoom, and more. If there is a technology you are interested in learning more about or a learning need you are struggling with, please indicate that as part of your RSVP and I will do my best to include that as part of this session!
