Apr 25: STEM/CEL Workshop

STEM/CEL Workshop

DATE:  Tuesday April 25, 2023

TIME:  12:30pm - 2:00pm

PLACE:  TBA

This community-engaged learning (CEL) workshop is designed for faculty, graduate instructors, post-doctoral fellows and undergraduate members of labs in the STEM fields who may be applying for or already engaged with National Science Foundation grants or other similar grants that require evidence of “broader impacts.”

Broader impacts are often accomplished through engagement with community partners. Facilitated by Eric Weeks (director of the CFDE, associate vice provost for faculty affairs, and Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor of Physics) and Vialla Hartfield-Méndez (director of engaged learning in the CFDE and Teaching Professor in Spanish and Portuguese) the workshop has two parts:

  1. best principles of community partnerships, for a mixed audience of faculty, post-docs, graduate and undergraduate students;
  2. pedagogical aspects of community engagement, for faculty and future faculty.

Attendance at the workshop can be cited in NSF and other grant proposals.

Registration is closed.
