As we did last summer, the CFDE hosted a previous webinar on August 17 to help you prepare for in-person teaching. We discussed discuss classroom safety precautions, student compliance concerns, and pedagogical techniques, and answered questions.
This (recorded) webinar is for all instructors – faculty and teaching assistants – and any staff who are interested.
Presenters:
Ravi Bellamkonda (Provost)
Douglas Hicks (Dean, Oxford College)
Octavian Ioachimescu (President, University Senate; Professor, School of Medicine
Robin Ruthenborg (Senior EHS Professional, Environmental Health and Safety Office)
Karen Sedatole (Dean, Goizueta Business School)
Amir St. Clair (Associate Vice President and Executive Director of Emory’s COVID-19 response and recovery)
Eric Weeks (Director, Center for Faculty Development and Excellence)
We’ll discuss Emory’s safety plans for Fall 2021, specifically around classroom safety precautions and how the decisions were made – and how we can adapt if circumstances change. We’ll also cover student compliance concerns and pedagogical techniques. And there will be plenty of time to answer your questions, which is why the webinar may run longer than 60 minutes. We aim to have the main presentation by the panelists in the first 30 minutes so that there’s as much time as possible for questions. We will record the webinar, and the recording will be posted on the CFDE website within a day or two after the webinar.
We know some Emory classes start earlier than August 17, and we want to get that information out as soon as we can. To that end, we have posted a Fall 2021 In-Person Teaching FAQ. If you have other questions, please email CFDE Director Eric Weeks (erweeks@emory.edu), and he will try to get the answers as soon as possible.
